Platinum Solutions was named a semi-finalist for the Greater Washington Government Contractor (GovCon) Awards in the category of "Contractor of the Year". This honor pays tribute to organizations that set the bar for the industry through their outstanding contributions during the past year to employees, the government contracting industry, and the U.S. Government.

Presented by the Northern Virginia GovCon Council, Professional Services Council and Washington Technology, the GovCon Awards are the DC metro's premier event honoring the innovation and success of the area's leading government contractors and industry executives.

Winners will be announced at an exclusive awards gala at the Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner.

Platinum Solutions announced today the promotion of Burke Cox to Chief Operating Officer. Cox, who joined the company in December 2008 as Chief Technology Officer, has been instrumental in strengthening Platinum Solutions’ position as a major player in the government technology market. In his new role, he will oversee business operations and provide strategic leadership as Platinum Solutions continues to grow rapidly and expand into new federal opportunities.

Platinum Solutions is proud to announce their nomination from the largest technology council in the USA. Now in its ninth year, the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) recognizes the accomplishments of emerging companies within the technology sector as part of its prestigious Hot Ticket Awards. Platinum Solutions is being considered in the "Hottest Emerging Government Contractor" category after its decade of success providing mission-critical enterprise software development for the federal government.

The NVTC Hot Ticket Awards celebrate the efforts of entrepreneurial companies and individuals in the region's tech community that have exhibited that special something that makes them "hot"- great vision, the ability to implement and deliver, innovative management approach or star-quality charisma. The NVTC is the largest technology council in the nation and is the membership and trade association for the technology community in Northern Virginia. NVTC has more than 1100 member companies representing about 200,000 employees. Its membership includes companies from all sectors of the technology industry.

The Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) Team, was honored with the “Non-Technical Program/Project of the Year” award for their support to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) at an awards ceremony held on Friday, April 9, 2010.

Along with Platinum Solutions, the PPSM Team includes Verizon Business and Buchanan & Edwards. The program was honored for its significant contributions towards achieving DISA’s vision and mission and for providing strict oversight and support to the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Networks and Information Integration), Defense-wide Information Assurance Program (DIAP) and the Combatant Commanders, Services, agencies and Field Activities officials.

The PPSM program is DISA’s face to the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Intelligence Community (IC) and provides implementation guidance on the use of IP protocols and application and data services that traverse the DoD Networks in a manner that supports net-centric operations. The program also provides vulnerability and risk assessment information, compliance guidance, and technical assistance to achieve compliance for all information systems, applications, and services connected to the Global Information Grid (GIG). This type of support is given to senior DoD security officials, the intelligence community, and network administrators.

Lt. General Carroll F. Pollett, Director, Defense Information Systems Agency, and Commander, Joint Task Force — Global Network Operations was the keynote speaker and presenter for the event.

Several prominent alumni leaders from Virginia Tech including Platinum Solutions’ President, Adam Rossi, met to discuss the launch of a research facility aimed at connecting students and faculty with intelligence agencies and training them to work with national security issues. Set to open in May 2011, the Ted and Karyn Hume Center for National Security and Technology will operate within Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering and will address the need for specialized graduates to work on national security projects, particularly those that are technical in nature. The primary mission of the center is to prepare students to work at agencies or in partnership with them but the center will also be a resource for faculty members who are interested in working on agency-sponsored research.

Including Platinum Solutions’ co-founders Laila and Adam Rossi who both hold undergraduate- and graduate-level degree from Virginia Tech, several other employees are closely connected to the University. The company wholly supports the Hume Center and its mission to prepare students to become contributors and leaders in the intelligence community.

In response to Platinum Solutions’ announcement on winning their most recent contract with the Department of Energy, Washington Technology magazine featured a report on the company and award details. The article entitled, “Platinum strikes gold with Energy Department award”, highlights the work Platinum Solutions will provide for the DOE’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) under the five-year contract worth $48 million.

Platinum Solutions announced today it has been awarded a $48 million, five-year contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to provide Information Technology and Engineering Support Services (ITES) to the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL).

Under the terms of the ITES contract, Platinum Solutions will support a wide range of information technology services necessary to operate the multi-location, multi-function NETL facilities in Morgantown, WV, Pittsburgh, PA, Albany, OR, Houston, TX and Fairbanks, AK. These support services include cyber security, network engineering, systems design and integration, enterprise architecture, enterprise systems support, and help desk support.

"NETL is at the forefront of developing exciting energy technologies that will help America better utilize our domestic resources of natural gas, coal, and oil, while protecting the environment with technologies such as carbon capture. I can’t think of a more exciting time for Platinum Solutions to begin our partnership with NETL on the ITES contract."

NETL is the only government-owned/government-operated national lab dedicated to energy research and development from domestic energy resources. NETL conducts research in energy technologies, analyzes energy systems for efficiency and optimization, and provides policymakers with information and energy technology guidance to advance the national, economic, and energy security of the United States.

Platinum Solutions' CEO, Laila Rossi, has been has been named one of SmartCEO Magazine’s 2010 Smart100 CEOs in the Greater Washington area. The publication selected their list based on the criteria of leadership, strategic vision and character. In addition to appearing the February 2010 issue, Rossi will be profiled in the Smart100 Book, which will be published this spring. The Smart100 are also listed online at http://www.smartceo.com on pages 50 and 51 of the digital magazine.
